How To Excel With Ezine Marketing

One of the questions I get asked the most when speaking with a prospective client about my network marketing business is, “What kind of advertising do you teach?” There are several marketing options Mia and I use for our business, but one with which we find a great deal of success is ezine advertising.
What is ezine advertising? Essentially, you are placing an ad, not too different than a classified ad, in an electronic magazine, or “ezine”.
Just like print magazines, ezines have subscribers comprised of targeted readers with a certain topic of interest to which they subscribe for information. You are essentially renting a list, thereby leveraging the ezine owner’s network to distribute your advertising. This is one of many reason I love ezine marketing.
But having a targeted audience doesn’t exclusively ensure success. The type of ad you place has more to do with your marketing success than the ezine in which you place the ad. More on that later.
What Is A Good Ezine?
Now, most ezines that you will advertise in will require you subscribe to it first. Some require a modest subscription fee, and some are free. (This is also highly recommended since you want to monitor that your ad has actually been distributed.)
Before you dive head-first into subscribing to a bunch of ezines with the intent of spreading your ads all over the internet, do your homework.
Start by interviewing the owner, or publisher, of the ezine. You are trying to learn a little about the owner as well as the ezine here (hint: if the owner is a jerk, you might want to think about taking your business elsewhere; difficult people make business a drag, and they control the list that your ads will be sent to…).
Start by asking how big their subscriber base is, and how many mailings per week they send to the list. The sweet spot is 2-3 per week BUT NO MORE. Anything over this will result in oversaturation, and therefore loss of effectiveness of your ads.
The list need not be huge, but be sure to ask about growth. How many new subscribers are they getting per week? Growth is more important than current numbers; the fast-growing ezine is what you want to find because it ensures your ad is getting seen by new readers each time it goes out.
Ask if there is a waiting list for your ad to be sent out. Believe it or not, a waiting list is a good thing, because it translates into value in the list. But, if you are crunched for time, or have an issue with paying upfront before ever seeing your ad “go to print”, this may not be right for you.
Can you personalize the ezine ad? (Remember, nothing is sweeter to someone’s ears/eyes as their own name.) Do they use HTML? (This allows you to emphasize words to make a stronger point.) Will they give references with whom you can follow up for more “customer satisfaction” questions?
These are all things to consider when you interview the owner of an ezine. Bottom line is you want to read issues (and if possible, back issues) to see if the ezine is right for you. Does it resonate with you? Are you intrigued by the content? Does it look like a product YOU would place on the market?
For a comprehensive list of ezines, check out the Ezine Directory we use at www.CashWithEzines.com. For a modest investment you will receive a lifetime membership that will continue to pay for itself over and over again.
With your membership, you will receive comprehensive training on ezine marketing and copywriting, and it will save you loads of time by sorting the ezines by different paramaters to find you targeted, quality ezines. It is a brilliant resource.
We have personally made thousands in sales from this one directory alone.
In the next post, I will teach you about the different types of ezine ads, how to write them (even give you some examples of a few we have had some that have been successful for us) and some of the ins and outs of placing the ads.
Until then, check out www.CashWithEzines.com and learn more about ezine marketing and how it can maximize your marketing budget.
See You In The Next Post…
